		<description>Hi, thanks for mentioning my article. I think most of the warranties come down to a personal decision. I bought the extended warranty on my first laptop when I purchased it because I was in the USAF and traveling around the world. I took the computer to over 30 countries, and thankfully, nothing happened to it. 6+ years later the laptop still works well, though it is slower than I would like! I haven&#039;t had problems with the viruses or lightning, though the latter may be covered by the warranty on your electrical surge protector if you use one (at least the replacement value of the equipment; probably not the in home service). 

I didn&#039;t purchase the extended warranty for my most recent desktop purchase because from personal experience, I haven&#039;t needed it, nor known many people who have needed it. I certainly don&#039;t blame people for buying it. In the end it comes down to the value and importance of your equipment and the amount of risk you are willing to assume. (as you work from home, I understand your need to protect your livelihood).
