One Hundred Things . . .

1. I love being a mom.

2. I love being a mom of twins.

3. I worked through years of infertility to finally have the twins.

4. Infertility really made me grow up.

5. Before that I was one of the most emotionally immature people on the planet.

6. I am a wife to Mark.

7. Being a wife is harder than being a mom.

8. I have to work really hard to be a halfway decent wife.

9. I am proud to be married to a retired Marine.

10. I am very lucky to be married to a guy like Mark.

11. Mark puts up with a LOT of garbage from me.

12. But I put up with a lot from him too.

13. I get very irritated if the house is messy.

14. I also don’t like to clean house.

15. I used to have cleaning lady, but don’t anymore.

16. I love horses.

17. I’ve been horse crazy since before I could walk.

18. I had to go to the emergency room when I was 4 because I ate grass pretending to be a horse and it stuck in my throat.

19. My dad promised me a pony before I turned 10.

20. I got my first pony when I was 9.

21. She was nasty mean but I loved her.

22. She also foaled two weeks after we got her and we didn’t know she was pregnant.

23. My mom made me sell my last horse when I was 16.

24. I am still angry about that.

25. Mark bought me a horse after we were only married for 2 weeks.

26. I love him for that.

27. I’ve had horses ever since.

28. I am kind of afraid to ride anymore.

29. I am trying to overcome that fear.

30. When I was 13 we moved from Massachusetts to South Dakota.

31. I hated South Dakota. I really hated it a lot.

32. I left South Dakota when I was 21 to move to Hollywood.

33. I taught myself how to play bass guitar by listening to Van Halen tapes.

34. I went to music school and played bass guitar in an all-girl heavy metal band on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. It was fun.

35. I left LA and went to University of Wyoming because I had broken up with my boyfriend and “needed to get away” from LA. My brother talked me into coming to Wyoming.

36. I had a lot of fun in Wyoming. Most of it was in the Buckhorn Bar.

37. I also didn’t graduate college because I had so much fun.

38. I met Mark when he was a bouncer at the Buckhorn Bar and I was playing in the band.

39. When I met Mark I was dating the lead singer for the band.

40. I ran away and got married briefly to a lawyer. Big stupid mistake.

41. Then I came back and married Mark.

42. We decided to get married on a Wednesday and got married the following Saturday.

43. Mark’s brother found us a minister who was fishing at Lake Marie, Wyoming that weekend. He agreed to marry us.

44. We got married outdoors at Lake Marie in August.

45. It snowed on us; big fat snowflakes, on our wedding day in August.

46. Mark’s buddies all chipped in $100 a piece to buy my wedding dress. That was their gift to us.

47. The breakfast burritos at Murph the Surfs the day after our wedding were the best burritos I ever ate. That was basically our honeymoon. Burritos at Murph the Surfs.

48. I have always liked to draw and paint.

49. I got lucky the internet was invented so I can be creative for a living.

50. I am very proud to have started a business myself and to have been successful at it for 10 years.

51. I hated working in the corporate world and I will never do it again.

52. in 2001 Mark and I built our own house from scratch.

53. I love this house. I love it more everyday.

54. But I would move and build another one in a heartbeat. We probably will do it again someday.

55. I am realizing that money makes people nuts and is not something needed for happiness.

56. I am also realizing that “stuff” is not important at all. That is a big step for me.

57. I enjoy being able to feed my family from my own garden and livestock.

58. I used to be fat.

59. I just decided one day to not be fat anymore and lost 80 lbs.

60. In the process I got obsessive about working out.

61. I had a goal to run a marathon. I met that goal in 2008.

62. It is hard to stay skinny. It takes a lot of work.

63. I miss junk food.

64. I don’t miss the way junk food makes me feel.

65. I don’t always like to work out. Especially starting to work out.

66. I always feel on top of the world after a good workout. So I just “get through” the starting part.

67. I have a tattoo.

68. When I got the tattoo my boyfriend at the time got my name tattooed on his arm. He is now married to a woman named Beth. My name is Lisa.

69. My tattoo is not my boyfriend’s name.

70. I don’t have an “off” switch when I drink. So I don’t drink very much anymore.

71. I hate it when people slurp their food. Or I can hear them chewing.

72. Little kids like me.

73. Animals usually like me too.

74. I was hired to teach at my kid’s school once. I hated it.

75. I am learning to appreciate people for who they are.

76. I like to pray right before I go to sleep.

77. I quit playing my bass for 10 years, but started again to play in church. Now I play in a working band. I like it, but I have to work hard to get by. I am not a real musician.

78. I am afraid to fly.

79. I am afraid of heights.

80. I secretly hope to win the lottery but I never buy lottery tickets.

81. My favorite books are My Friend Flicka, Thunderhead & Green Grass of Wyoming by Mary OHara. I read them while I lived in Massachusetts and was thrilled when I moved to Wyoming and lived RIGHT BY where the books took place.

82. I like 80’s hair bands, I also like good jazz.

83. I am proud that I am 100% Swedish.

84. I once dated a guy who is now a famous country star.

85. The movie “Little Women” makes me bawl.

86. The song at the end of the Black Stallion movie makes me weepy.

87. I love to read. I even read the back of cereal boxes.

88. I also pick out fonts on signs and billboards.

89. After years of being told I had a “nervous stomach” I was rushed to the emergency room and had my gall bladder removed. No more nervous stomach.

90. I wish I could have another baby.

91. I wish I never would have gotten a tattoo.

92. I love the smell of a campfire.

93. I love fall. And MacIntosh apples.

94. I get excited about my birthday.

95. I’ve learned recently that people do things that I would never expect them to do. And not in a good way. It’s rather sad.

96. I like to knit, but I am not very good at it. I am too impatient.

97. I used to love Christmas, but since my dad died at Christmas I don’t much care about Christmas anymore.

98. I love the smell of laundry fresh off the line.

99. I love the smell of horses. And my kids’ hair.
